NASW WI Offers three new Webinars for Social Work Graduates

As a social work student you have worked hard to complete you program’s academic requirements and now you are ready to complete your licensure requirements and begin your career. NASWWIis pleased to offer three new webinar workshops for graduating students that will help them prepare.  

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE IN WISCONSIN presented by Marc Herstand, CISW

In this session attendees will learn the ins and outs of social work certification and licensure inWisconsin.  The four categories of social work certification and licensure will be reviewed in depth.   The requirements for clinical licensure, some of the strictest in the United States will be thoroughly discussed.   The timelines for taking the state and federal exams as well as the costs will also be mentioned in this workshop.  Other topics will include: the Conduct Code for social workers, continuing education requirements, reciprocity with other states, upgrading your certification category, malpractice insurance and handling criminal offenses. 

NASW WI Executive Director Marc Herstand is an expert on social work certification and licensure in Wisconsin.  He has been attending Social Worker Section meetings for over twenty years.  He has presented numerous workshops throughout the last two decades on social work certification and licensure. On a weekly basis he assists NASW members with questions and roadblocks they face in obtaining certification and licensure in Wisconsin.

MSW EXAM PREPARTION WORKSHOP presented by Matt Mattila, MSW, CISW

  • JUNE 4 * 6:00 – 9:00 P.M.

 This webinar will assist you in preparing for the national exams forWisconsinMSW-level social work certification/licensure including APSW, LCSW and CISW.  It will include an overview of the exam, information about test-taking strategies, a review of social work content and analysis of sample questions.

The workshops will be led by Matt Mattila, MSW, CISW. He is a professor in the Department of Social Work at UW Green Bay, where he joined the faculty in 2005. He has over fifteen years practice experience with children and families in child welfare and family court services agencies, and many years of experience as a social work lecturer and trainer. His practice interests include child welfare, forensic social work and adult education. He is committed to helping prepare the next generation of social workers to meet the challenges of effective practice.

BSW EXAM PREPARTION WORKSHOP presented by Joanne Barndt, ACSW, LCSW

Are your ready for the social work certification exam?  This webinar will assist you in preparing for the basic social work exam.  It will include a review of social work content, test taking skills and strategies and how to be personally and physically ready for the exam.

Joanne Barndt, ACSW, LCSW, is a Clinical Associate Professor Emerita at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare. She earned her Master of Science degree in Social Administration from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. She has substantial experience in child welfare, clinical, and health care settings. Joanne has been a member of NASW since 1970 and is past president of the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
