Wisconsin Lawyers Assistance Program Coordinator

The State Bar of Wisconsin is in search of a skilled, compassionate and highly motivated behavioral health professional to provide program support for the Wisconsin Lawyers Assistance Program (WisLAP), a confidential peer-to-peer mentoring service for State Bar members coping with problems related to the stress of practicing law. This position will work side by side with the WisLAP Manager to evaluate legal professionals, refer for services, operate the monitoring program, recruit and train volunteers, and develop prevention programming.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Respond to calls that come in via the WisLAP helpline; provide assessment, information, and/or referrals to callers
  • Support the monitoring program to insure timely and accurate intake, follow-up and coordination of services and reporting
  • Maintain a working knowledge of, and establish relationships with, state and national treatment providers and facilities to continually build a network of referral resources
  • Support and assist in the training of a network of volunteers to assist in interventions, serve as local contacts for those seeking LAP assistance, and serve as recovery mentors
  • Develop and deliver adult education programs and materials on the topics of mental health disorders and addictive behaviors, stress management, and work/life balance as they relate to the practice of law
  • Represent the State Bar and WisLAP program as appropriate through presentations, written articles, and general participation in program events

The ideal candidate will hold a 4-year degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field and current license/certification in the State of Wisconsin or be eligible for such licensure. A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the field of addictions and mental health with a focus on assessment, referral, support, intervention, and case management is required. Masters degree and/or J.D. desired.
