HFS 35 Hearing Held on September 18, 2008NASW WI Asks Senate Committee to Return HFS 35 to the Department of Health Services for a RewriteThe Senate Committee on Health, Human Services, Insurance and Job Creation held a hearing on HFS 35 on Thursday September 18, 2008. HFS 35, also known as Clearinghouse Rule 06-080, regulates outpatient mental health clinics in Wisconsin. MSW and BSW Exam Preparation WorkshopsOctober 27, 2008Olympia Resort and

Road, Oconomowoc, WI * 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Are you preparing
to take your national social work certification tests soon? Would you like a
chance to review content and concepts and to take a practice test? We are
offering Exam Preparation Workshops for those taking both the BSW and MSW exams. The BSW Exam
Preparation Workshop will be presented by Bill Berkan, ACSW, CISW. Bill has 32
years experience in county and state agencies as social worker, supervisor,
administrator, and consultant and ten years experience teaching social work at
Upper Iowa University-Madison Center. He developed a foster care program
for special needs children, youth suicide prevention programs, and University
level summer institutes for Social Workers. He was responsible for
creating both a field placement program and a B.S. level Social Work Test
preparation seminar for Upper Iowa University. He is the author of
a suicide prevention manual, death education book, child welfare program
manual, and adult survivor of child abuse book. He served on the
NASW-Wisconsin Board of Directors as a
member and officer of for several years. The MSW Exam
Preparation Workshop will be presented by Joanne Barndt, ACSW, LCSW. She is a
Professor Emerita of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, Helen Bader School
of Social Welfare. She has substantial experience in child welfare, clinical,
and health care settings, and currently is responsible for undergraduate and
graduate field placements at child and youth agencies. Joanne has been a member
of NASW since 1970 and is past President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the
