Tuesday, October 24th   1:40 am – 3:10 pm

Coping with Stress in the Helping Professions

Dr. Sarah Hessenauer, Kathy Drechsler, LCSW, Alissa Zawacki

Stress and burnout can negatively affect those working in the Group Therapyfield of social work on a daily basis. It is important to examine these stressors and identify coping skills used by social workers and their supervisors. This workshop will present results of a research study in which social workers and supervisors answered questions related to burnout, stress, and coping, along with organizational strategies to address these issues in social work organizations. The results will be shared along with examining differences between workers and supervisors.  The workshop will also explore generational differences in the workplace related to these concepts.
