    Dear Members,

Happy Fall! It is hard to believe but registration for our annual conference is taking place, as I write. This year it will be held in Madison. If you haven’t reviewed our speakers and workshops, please do!  The conference is filling up fast and is sure to interest you and serve to meet your licensing credit requirements.  It is always enjoyable to connect with professionals throughout the state. Please join us!

Also, I want to take this opportunity to mention that this year, we are celebrating Marc Herstand’s 25th year as executive direction of your NASW- Wisconsin. He has carried our organization through much change and challenge and continues to do so. We are so fortunate to have him in leadership here in Wisconsin. While at the conference, please, make an effort to see Marc and thank him for his work with our organization.

As we see government leadership unfold at the national level, there continues to be concern, questions and uncertainty about much that we, as an organization, hold dear: representation of marginalized populations, dedication to healthcare and justice for all. More than ever, I hear, that “all politics is local. “ Use you voice, get involved, have courage. Speak to the issues that impact those clients you serve and continue to carry hope. We are the torchbearers for hope; others look to us.

Enjoy the beauty and the change of this season. Hope I see you at the conference!

    Best,

    Donna Altepeter, LCSW
    Your NASW Wisconsin President
