“Beyond Self-Care: Secondary Trauma, Compassion Fatigue & Burn-Out”
Presented by Melinda Marasch, LCSW

Trauma Informed Care (TIC) is an important best practice model for all direct care workers to
understand. Research in trauma, neuropsychology, positive psychology and other disciplines
identify several approaches to self-care that help mitigate stress, trauma, vicarious trauma,
compassion fatigue and burn-out. Understanding how we are affected, as well as how we can
care well for ourselves and others, will undoubtedly help us lead and shape the future together.
Learning objectives include the following.

By the end of the training, learners will be able to:

  • Describe Stress, Trauma, Vicarious/Secondary Trauma, Burn-Out &/or Compassion
  • Identify at least 1 way to insulate myself from Vicarious/Secondary Trauma, BurnOut &/or Compassion Fatigue
  • Identify at least 1 thing they will do for better Self-Care.
